A master's in strategy, organisation and decision making, with a specialisation in finance. Where the bachelor taught me how a process works, this programme teaches what a choice costs, returns and is worth.

Nyenrode offers three tracks: Global Business, Digital Business & Innovation and Financial Management. I chose the last one, because it is the only one that answers the question every improvement proposal ultimately lives or dies by: what does it return, and how do we pay for it.
Mergers, Acquisitions and Private Equity
How an acquisition comes about: valuing, financing and structuring, and what still has to be merged once the ink is dry.
International Money and Finance
Currencies, interest rates and capital flows between countries, and how a company hedges the risks that come with them.
Asset Management & Financial Markets
How capital is invested and priced in financial markets, and how return relates to the risk taken for it.
Advanced Corporate Finance
Financing decisions at board level: capital structure, investment headroom and value creation, concluded with the group project.
Three things I take from this master's.
Financial
Being able to price value
Translating a plan into a valuation, an investment proposal or a capital requirement. Not only whether something improves, but by how much and at what cost.
Strategic
Choices under uncertainty
Deciding when the figures are incomplete: weighing scenarios, naming risk and still choosing a direction that can be defended.
Organisation
Making strategy land
Why good plans run aground in execution, and what behaviour, structure and leadership do to that.
The rest of the programme.
The core courses are the same for every student and lay the foundation under the specialisation. The premaster bridged the gap between a university of applied sciences bachelor and the master's.
